Nelore Top of Breed

From the start, Nelore Top da Raça (meaning “Top of Breed”) set out to become a leader in livestock breeding. Its investments in gene stock proved to be well aimed. Breeding prime quality high value animals must start with stock of this kind.

The Nossa Senhora Aparecida rural property - where the Nelore cattle are bred- is located in the municipality of Pedregulho (SP). The ranch started its activities in 2004 with the acquisition of 800 dams from Duarte Castro Cunha stock in Uberaba, state of Minas Gerais.

In 2007 it acquired its first top donors at the liquidation auction of the Fazenda Santa Nilza herd, which was named Best Nelore Breed in 2005. Dams purchased there included JEN Açuncena, Amanda S.Nilza, Fiorita TE S.Nilza and Rani TE Bar.

Then it acquired the breed stock of Estância Aliança, in Votuporanga (SP), with some 400 cattle, including nationally prominent donors such as Campesina TE da Bionatus and Endívia da J. Galera. Some dams and donors were bought at the lea- ding Nellore breed auctions in order to obtain the most advanced genetics.

Nelore Top of Breed is constantly seeking to improve the genetic stock it has acquired by insemination from the principal Nelore studs. Through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and selecting purebred animals of fine appearance, conformation, fertility, and mothering ability.

Entries for competitions and shows began in June 2007 with animals acquired, and now some from our own brand are ready too, and we have already achieved excellent results. DAKOTA FIV TOP DA RAÇA took first prize in the calf category at exhibitions in Passos (MG) and Londrina (PR) and second prize at the very competitive Expozebu in Uberaba (MG), where DAMASCO TOP DA RAÇA debuted with first prize for calves. CLARINDA FIV ALIANÇA took first prize for older heifers at the Avaré (SP) exhibition, which was the biggest Nelore breed show ever. At the exhibition of Franca - our own region - our animals won the titles Reserve Champion Calf with REBANA TE DA SABIÁ and Reserve Champion Junior Female with CATALYNA FIV ALIANÇA.
